Excessive wait times in the ER

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The wait time and lack of communication that its going to a 15 hour wait is ridiculous! I could have passed out from not being able to breathe! Let people know that its going be a long wait so they can go somewhere else! They should not call this an emergency room! Honor Health is so much better! You really need to figure out a better way to run the emergency room!

Terrible care

I went to a Banner orthopedic surgeon Greg DeSilva after a wrist injury sustained on the pickleball court. I told him I was in a lot of pain and couldn't even hold a pencil, and he characterized what I had said as "you're sore." Took an xray but declined to order any other imaging, saying it was just a sprain. Two weeks later, when I was still in pain, I insisted on more imaging.

What do you know? My wrist had a fracture. I knew this because the imaging place posted a prompt finding. I then chased this Banner surgeon for two weeks trying to find out what the next steps were.

Left three phone messages and messages on the patient portal. Nothing. Tried to find a patient advocate or someone at banner who could help me. Nothing.

Now have longstanding problems with my wrist. Trust me when I say Banner does not care about your patient experience.

Tried to complain about my experience at Banner Health Urgent Care in Greeley, CO. And my phone number was blocked after my request for a manager to call me was ignored. I left a message with the CEOs assistant and no reply either. This place mirrors all Banner Health facilities.

Lack of Healthcare!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am a type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump and glucose sensor. Whenever I have been to ANY Banner hospital, my blood sugar gets extremely high, because they take my pump and glucose sensor.

Without my permission. They even throw the glucose sensor receiver out because they don't know what they are doing. This costs my $70 each time. The foods that they have on their menu is NOT diabetic friendly and even worse if you are a vegetarian.

Food staff has no care or quality control. Many under cooked or overcooked foods. Can't toast any breads or bagels! Many simple things that the culinary department just does not do.No healthcare what so ever at ANY Banner hospital.

Many brain dead people are employed here. If it is an emergency, you most likely will be worse off in the long run going to Banner.

Shame on them for harming people for money. Tried to talk to higher-ups, but they hide and don't care either.

Abysmal/cruel health care

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dear Sir/Madam, I was brought to Banner Sun City by ambulance for a suspected seizure on 5/23/22. I was rolled into the inner hallway and left there until I asked what was going on (approx.

1 hr). I was told they were working on it. Same thing after another hour. Another inquiry and they told me they were waiting from a call from Mesa before they could bring me to a room.

(Please check on this!) I saw other patients on stretchers with pillows.I asked the nurse if I could have one. She said in a very surly tone, "I don't have one on me!" I said, "I can see that. Can you find one? She then walked about 15 feet down the hall to the closet and brought it.

"Never brought to a treatment or observation room (they billed $1,805 for this lie)!

Finally brought to my room.

It may have been 1.5 hours. My memory was fuzzy then. Given blood test/vitals. Asked for a pain reliever.

No response.

By the way, not one time during my entire stay (approx 20 hrs) did a nurse or doctor ask me how I was doing! But they were very careful to get my Social Security info so they'd get paid.

Approx 2 hrs later a nurse came in stating she needed to draw more blood. I asked to see the results from the last one. She said she'd check and never came back.

About an hr later a different nurse came to draw blood. Same thing, I asked for results from the last one. She left and came back. She went over the results and stated nothing was out of the ordinary.

(They bill Medicare $1,396 for blood tests so I can see why they try to take a lot.)

Tried to call nurse with button. No response. Try again in approx 35 mins, no response, again, same thing, nurse came. I asked about the pain killer.

"We're trying to get permission from a doctor." She left and never asked how I was doing.

Approx 2 hrs later a nurse came to take my vitals again. I asked if a dcoctor was coming. She said they'd try to get one.

Repeat this cycle of calling on button, no response for a long time, rude nurse acts like she's busy and you're bothering her, says she is checking on the pain reliever and doctor. No question as to how I'm doing!

Never!!

It got dark and I fell asleep. A woman woke me up and asked me to sign 3 papers. I was drowsy and asked what they were for. "Standard stuff." I can't remember if I signed.

Finally a doctor came and he was nice.

I asked him when I could leave and he guaranteed about 2-3 hours. He said they just needed the go ahead from the missing neurologist. He asked a few questions and left.

Some time later a nurse came in and gave me 3 ibuprofin from a commercial bottle. (I think they had sent someone to a pharmacy finally.

They billed $178.70)

I spent a pretty rough night because they had left a stent in my arm and patches on my chest. A woman brought a breakfast tray.

A different woman came in asking me to sign papers again. This time I was awake and I asked her what for? Two made sense and I signed.

One was a request for permission to pass my info on to third parties (I didn't sign that.) I think the other had to do with insurance (they want to make sure they're paid.)

Then came another very very long cycle of my being ignored and requesting info on when I'd be released. I was told repeatedly they needed the neurologist to sign off and they were trying to find one. I never saw one.

I asked if I could be released. They said it would be AMA (against medical advice) and informed me that would effect what I was reimbursed for and how it would affect future visits.

In essence they coerced me to stay until they could find the neurologist that was missing in action.

After many terrible hours they got someone to allow me to be released. Before leaving, on their form I wrote out a description of these events. It was in pencil and about a page long. The nurse at the desk said she'd put it in my file.

(I doubt that happened.) I wanted somebody to apologize or at least acknowledge that the system had messed up. I still want that.

I was finally released. I will say some of this may be fuzzy or I had a headache. But this account is the best I can do at this point.

I got a bill that charged me and Medicare $11,460.70. I'm upset that some of that is untrue and a lot is exorbitant.

I am sorry for your experience. I am just experiencing this with a loved one.

Their care is inadequate after a serious surgery.

I am appalled at their attitude altogether. I think they are too big and any business will suffer from that alone, but when it comes to patient care that is inexcusable!

Horrible treatment from admitting Nurse

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

She wouldn't tell me her name or let me see her badge But the admitting nurse literally verbally attacked me. I came in to banner Boswell ER Monday night with a fever and I was treated by doctor Baker He treated me with some antibiotics and discharged me however because I am undergoing radiation and chemo for Lung cancer he said if the fever were to return he wanted me to come back to the ER immediately.

The fever 102 degrees came back late Tuesday And I returned to the ER as instructed, this was about 12:30 Tuesday night. The admitting nurse immediately began yelling at me she yelled what are you doing here? you need to go home you shouldn't be here... I tried to explain to her that doctor Baker instructed me to return to the ER if the fever came back but she kept interrupting me very rudely...

She said fevers are a good thing and they're good for you... And the only time you should come to the ER is if you have a 103 temp or higher...mine was 102... I tried to explain that I was following doctor Baker's orders and that he didn't say anything about a 103 temp but she kept interrupting. I tried to tell her that my oncologist doctor Dave instructed me to report to the ER if I have a temp over 100 because I have a weakened immune system with the radiation and chemo.

I tried to tell her I was having a reaction to the Vancomycin that I'm taking and she completely discounted that... I told her I was short of breath and had a very fast heartbeat and she just discounted it. She said those are normal symptoms when taking an antibiotic and I wasn't having any kind of reaction. I asked her if there was something I said that made her angry because I didn't understand why she's attacking me.

She mumbled something about how many times I had been there I guess if you come to banner Boswell too many times she gets irritated. I have had a lot of procedures there I've had 2 Zephyr valve surgeries And a collapsed lung from a biopsy for my cancer and a port put in for my chemo therapy. Up until now it's always been the highest level of exceptional service from all the staff at banner Boswell. She was literally yelling at me the whole time.

There was another nurse there, I believe he said his name was Brandon and he refused to give me her name. He claimed that he just started and he didn't know anyone's name. There was a female doctor that I believe heard everything and said and did nothing.

I still don't know why she got so angry I was just following doctor Baker's orders. Unfortunately I don't know her name, she has dark hair and tattoos and she was on duty Tuesday night after midnight 1230.

Poor Medical Patient Care

My mother (92 years) was transported by the ambulance with a fracture and her leg was placed in a splint by the paramedics. She arrived at 2.59 pm only to sit in the lobby in pain until she could no longer take the pain and left at 3:30 A.m.

This woman sat in the lobby for over 12 hours and never saw a doctor, this is the most ridiculous circumstance. Management clearly is not paying attention. They are understaff and the employees show zero empathy for those sitting sick in the lobby.

The university of Arizona was one of the best since Banner has taken over, I no longer see this as the best hospital in Tucson but the worst. Read several reviews with similar stories so DO NOT take your loved one there

This is the WORST hospital in ARIZONA.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My daughter went in due to pregnancy complications. She is at least five weeks early and needed to be induced.

Myself and her fiancé went in with her and after two days in labor she couldnt dilate outside of other problems. After day two a nurse came in a said I had to leave. I begged and cried because my daughter was having issues. She said its policy and I had to leave after being there two days.

Policy says there are exceptions. She did not CARE. Everyone else prior to her had no problem. I had to go home not knowing what was going on with my daughter.

They have zero *** NONE. Cried all night and was scared for my daughter.

Pissed of

I signed my brother into the E.R And I filled out all the sign in questions. I signed all his paperwork.

I waited with him for six hours last night 10/17/2022 he was brought in to been seen about his hip. They took him back and forth running tests. So, at 1:00Am I ask the nurse at the desk would it be ok if I left, I have a dog to attend to he said yes, he will be fine. He informed me he would call if necessary.

I got up this morning to get back to the hospital and I arrived at 8:45 so I could speak to the Dres and come to find out they released him to someone else. Know they never attempted to call me. And my brother doesn't know my phone number, so they released him to a friend who is not even a next of kin . I have never seen in a hospital the rudest people in my life.

i sat and watched a man come in that had surgery the day before with the shakes from fever and there he sat for about 6 hours. I hope like $$$ he came home alive.

Empathy for someone else

Oh my goodness Sir/M'am. I pity you and understand how you got your feelings hurt by the arrogant treatment at Banner.

Your life was actually put at risk by a receptionist telling you your fever was not high enough for treatment (she was wrong.) I experience such awful treatment at Banner.

I bet somebody has already or will be killed by their arrogance/incompetence. I think I read they settled a wrongful death charge. Doesn't Banner realize their behavior is dangerous?

Do they even bother to read these comments? Do they even try to improve?

I doubt it. I shudder to think of what a horrible thing must happen before they respond.

They give boiler-plate stock responses like below ("We want to do everything we can to provide a quality experience... blah blah blah.") It's complete baloney.

Just go ahead and read the junk they say.

But when it comes to action (not words) they do nothing to improve. Personally, after hearing how Banner demeaned you and risked your life, I think it's gone too far!
